November

One of the first things I remember from my first training as a newly hired EFY counselor was the advice to “be flexible.” Change was inevitable at EFY, they said, and the sooner I got used to it, the happier I would be. They were right! Once again, we have some changes for you. Get excited!

Our timelines for giving you session assignments have changed recently due to some University systems upgrades. As a result of these upgrades and changes, Session Directing and Teaching Assignments will not come until after Session Director Training in April.

For your calendaring purposes, Session Director Training will take place on April 8-9, 2011. We hope to send emailed invitations to this training sometime in the month of January.  More information about this training and who will attend will come as that time approaches.

We realize this is very different than past years, and acknowledge this could seem like a strain on your upcoming summer schedules. However, we will find a way to make this all work for everyone involved. In the past, we have received requests for assignments sooner so summers could be planned. This is unfortunately something we cannot do this year.

Please go ahead and plan your summer! Plan your family vacations and whatever else is necessary in the time you need to plan them.  We hope to have the new system ready for the next step in the hiring process in December, but assignments cannot be sent out until after the training in April. We will work around your schedules as we proceed with making assignments.

We are grateful for all each and every one of you do in your lives and in your teaching to help the youth today, and thank you for your patience!

May you each have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
